Dream 2 Poster

Dream 2 poster - Middle Weight Grand Prix 2008

These Dream posters are just damn cool. We wanna collect them all and frame them.

Camozzi brings it to Yi Yang at UFC 121

Chris Camozzi defeats Dong Yi Yang via split decision at UFC 121

Never did get to see this prelim – gotta watch it later today.

We know this – Chris Camozzi is a gamer who serves hard, cold knuckle sandwiches for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Cain Velasquez delivering a heaping helping of red stuff to the face of Brock Lesnar

Cain Velasquez bringing it down on Brock Lesnar at UFC 121

Cain Velasquez jack hammering the former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar into the matt. We think he wanted to pollock the place up a little with the red, red kroovy of Lesnar.

In any case, Velasquez took the belt and is now the new UFC Heavyweight Champion of the World.  He’ll have to print new business cards.

Brittney Palmer is another cutie patootie UFC Ring Girl making her way in the world. She’s easy on the eyes and that’s really all she can be.

Made the mistake of watching a video of her talking while she was walking around her house and it killed the illusion quicker than a Scarface knifing. She’s much better at holding up the round card and slinking in a circle.

Kajan Johnson vs Ryan Healy – MFC 27

Kajan Johnson vs Ryan Healy at MFC 27

Our buddy Kajan Johnson looked real good in his fight against Ryan Healy at the recent MFC 27. He dominated the entire 3 rounds and took the win without question. Sure, it would have been better for him to finish the fight in knockout style – but he did a heckova job anyway.

Congrats Kajan. Nice win, bro.

M-1 Global Ring Girls – Katya

M-1 Global Ring Girls - Katya on the sea

Say what you want about M-1 Global – and we would agree with you about the lack of fights, profile, media coverage, etc – but they have THE BEST ring girls in the world. Period.

Really. Find another MMA organization out there that consistently delivers the knockout chicks that M-1 Global does. Nope – they have everyone beat by miles. The UFC is anemic in comparison.

Katya does not disappoint. Seem that when she’s not mincing around the ring holding round cards, she’s out posing rather dramatically around the deck of her yacht.

Either way, we’re good with it.

Georges St. Pierre vs Josh Koscheck at UFC 124

GSP vs Josh Koscheck at UFC 124 - jabbing from the start

The only constant to a GSP UFC MMA fight is that we are always surprised by what the reigning welterweight champion will do next. Georges St. Pierre’s strategy of perfecting and delivering the jab again and again and again worked. It worked like no one had ever thought it would work.

Like breaking the 4-minute mile – after this, you’ll see alot more fighters do it.

Josh Koscheck was thrown off his game right from the first round – and that’s what GSP always does to his opponents. Koscheck couldn’t find his range, couldn’t throw effectively, looked slow and landed very little.

It was all over after the first 5 minutes – but it was fun to watch for 25.

Josh Koscheck’s Eye After UFC 124

Josh Koscheck eye after UFC 124

Well, here it is – Josh Koscheck’s eye 24 hours after Georges St.Pierre beat it into a lump of carpaccio. Not bad for breaking the occipital bone. In fact, it looks alot better than it did the night of the fight. Well, that’s what good ol’ Canadian socialized medicine will do for you. Even if you’re a boneheaded bohunk from the U.S. of A., Canada will step up and make your boo-boo better.

But hey, there’s got to be some collateral damage from UFC 124, and what we would call the fight of the night. A better MMA bout this year would be hard to find.

Nice of GSP to give Koscheck a pair of sunglasses for Christmas. Very thoughtful.

Strikeforce : Paul Daley vs Scott Smith

Paul Daley vs Scott Smith - who's gonna knockout who

Paul “Semtex” Daley has not let the UFC ban-for-life get him down at all. This year he has been knocking out guys like he was getting paid big money for it. Come to think of it, that’s exactly what happens; he gets paid good money to knock guys out.

Doesn’t matter if its in a ring or a cage, in the USA or overseas, for a big show or a small promoter, Paul Daley is delivering the goods right proper. And the MMA fans are loving him for it.

This was the Strikeforce edition of Paul Daley taking on Scott Smith. Scott seemed a little tentative but came in swinging. Too bad – Paul Daley did the same. Guess who won.

Only time will tell if Dana White and Paul Daley can kiss and make up. But that will only happen when they grow up. Until then, we get to see Semtex dropping bombs and turning the light out. Sweet.

Strikeforce : Dan Henderson vs Renato Babalu Sobral

Dan Henderson - the win

Finally, Strikeforce had a solid night of MMA fights worth watching. And the main event – Dan Henderson vs Babalu Sobral – did not disappoint. Hendo is 40 but don’t tell him that. The only person in the ring that night who was embarrassed by that number was Babalu. Because he got knocked out – knocked right out – by a 40-year-old fighter.

Who’d a thunk it?!

Congrats to Dan Henderson. By the looks of things, he’s got a few more fights left in him.

Stirkeforce MMA Fights: Henderson vs Sobral - group shot

The final press conference pix for the Strikeforce MMA fighting event on Saturday, December 4, 2010. Everybody looks poised – and cold – ready to put on a solid card of mixed martial arts fights. We’re looking forward to all the tilts, but especially the one between Dan Henderson and Babalu Sobral.

Everyone looks ready to rumble.

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar Hunting

UFC Brock Lesnar - the proud hunter

Well, what the heck else is this guy gonna do at this time of the year?! Of course Brock Lesnar, former UFC Heavyweight Champion of the World, hunts and kills what he eats. We’re surprised there weren’t pictures of him dressing his kill right there in the bush. ‘Cause you know he’s gonna hang that deer out in the backyard, like a true woodsman does.

Maybe the venison diet will help in training for his next fight.

Saturday Nite Fights

Saturday Nite Fights Ring Girl

In a dinner hall with about 1000 other fight fans, we took in the local mixed MMA and Muay Thai event on Saturday night. The fights were all young guys making building their records and getting time in the ring. A couple of real bangers wen the distance and a couple of matches were over in minutes.

The ring girls were the classic bikini’d beauties. They did what they were paid for and they did it well.

Dinner was butter chicken and rice.

UFC 123 Quinton Rampage Jackson vs. Lyoto The Dragon Machida

UFC 123 Quinton Rampage Jackson vs. Lyoto The Dragon Machida, the fight is on

This was the main event of UFC 123 and people are still talking about it because of the controversy over who won the fight. The judges said the Rampage Jackson won the fight. When the final bell had rung, Rampage said that Lyoto Machida had won the fight. UFC President Dana White said Jackson won the fight. FightMetric, the official statistics keeper for the UFC said the Machida won the fight. And every fight fan out there has a beer-soaked opinion of what happened on that PPV.

OK, so its official that Rampage Jackson won the fight – no one can dispute the judges decision. But the controversy still leaves a cloud over the fight. And because it is controversial, that means that the UFC can pull out a sequel to this fight the next time they need to fill out a weak pay-per-view card.

Not bad. 1 fight. 2 winners. Rampage Jackson and the UFC.

UFC 123 BJ Penn vs. Matt Hughes

UFC 123 BJ Penn vs. Matt Hughes, and here comes the knockout

It was the upset of the night. Well, not so much an upset as it was a surprise. BJ Penn came out on fire and knocked out Matt Hughes in the very first round of their fight at UFC 123. Yup, we were shocked too.

Alot of people were questioning the resolve and commitment of BJ Penn before this fight. And rightly so. BJ has been in fights where it looked like he really wasn’t there. That wasn’t the case on this night.

Matt Hughes was not only knocked out – he was absolutely stunned afterward. You could see him on camera asking his corner people – “what happened?” He wasn’t a happy camper when he was speaking with Joe Rogan after the fight. Looking down at his glove and peeling the tape like he wanted to be somewhere, anywhere else in the world other than in that ring at that moment.

Matt Hughes will be back, in some way, shape or form. The guy is a MMA legend. And so is BJ Penn – now even more so.

UFC 123 Phil Davis vs. Tim Boetsch

UFC 123 Phil Davis vs. Tim Boetsch, throwing like there's no tomorrow

Phil Davis continues to stack up the wins in a style that pleases the crowd and brings a smile to the face of his boss, UFC President Dana White. And what’s not to smile about – the guy can bang with the best of them AND take it to the ground like an avalanche. Let’s face it – Phil Davis was born to be a MMA fighter.

Tim Boetsch did put on a strong game, but Davis is just too good. Not sure how much longer we’re going to see Boetsch in the UFC. Too bad because the guy has knockout power. And when he connects, opponents go to sleep.

UFC 123 Mark Munoz vs Aaron Simpson

UFC 123 Mark Munoz vs Aaron Simpson, kicking to the head

Mark Munoz proved that he’s back and better than ever in his fight against Aaron Simpson at UFC 123. The crazy thing about this match was that Mark and Aaron are training partners from the same gym, and they’re buddies. Well, sometimes you gotta fight your friends. Afterall, it’s the prizefighting business.

Munoz took the victory and both were very professional afterward, showing great sportsmanship and, let’s be honest, friendship.
